Our Little Corner of the World...on to Zambia!!!

We saw a lot of animals while on our game drives in Singita...
Elephants, Giraffe, Zebra, Antelope, Kudu, Hippos, Crocodiles, Leopard, Wildebeast, Rhino
and more!

But no lions...

Until we were on our way out of the park...
...as luck would have it,
just before we got out of the park we saw numerous cars on the side of the road.

Apparently, a pride of lions had taken down a Cape Buffalo, and went off into the bush.
Several Hyenas were surrounding the Buffalo, until the lions started to come back.

As I said, we were on our way out of the park to catch our plane so we were only able to stop
for a few minutes and, of course, only had our iPhones available to catch a photo.

Sooo...believe it or not, there is a lion in the middle of the pic above...
a very pixilated, crappy picture but at least I have proof we saw a lion!!!

Back at Mpumalanga airport to fly out again to Zambia.

On our way from the Zambia airport to our hotel in Livingstone, we saw this statue...
...not sure why it was covered but I got the impression it was political.

Our hotel was really cool!
Very British Colonial in architecture...
This is the lobby...you walk in, and straight through you can see the grounds of the hotel and
the Zambezi River.

This was one of the common areas.

We'd had a long day of travel so we headed across the lawn to this charming outdoor area
right on the Zambezi River for a bite to eat.

Do you see the mist on the horizon in the middle of the pic?
That's the back of the Victoria Falls, or Mosi-oa-Tunya...the Smoke that Thunders.

Pretty nice spot for a glass of wine and a bite to eat!!!

The rooms were generally 4 to a building with about 10 buildings off to the side of the main area...
...we were in about the 6th or 7th building.
They had golf carts to take us to the room...and these charming guys
were there to get us a cart, assist with luggage, assist with tour buses, etc, etc.

Sooo...
off we go in our golf cart...

...and look who's having a snack just outside our room!

Once in our room I went out on the balcony and look what I saw!!!

This was the view from our room...
just yards from the beautiful Zambezi River.

There's something about African sunsets....

...they're pretty darned spectacular!

  1. Giraffes and zebras... what a sight. I assume, being that close to Victoria Falls, that a visit is in order yet to come.
