After our less than exciting stop in Cairns...our next stop was
Port Douglas.
We arrived at Port Douglas as this charming little dock area...
and from here we decided we wanted to walk to the beach.
Our first glimpse of the charming Port Douglas Beach...
Lot's of activity on the beach...
Along the walk back to the docking area, I found this unusual flower...
In the afternoon...we took a river cruise on Australia's
version of the African Queen...
I'm serious...it really reminded me of the African Queen...
I was ready to shoot the rapids!!!
Instead...we saw the remnants of a cyclone,
from a few years back...
...and this guy!
Just sunning himself while waiting around for a little snack...
It was a very pretty trip down the river...
...and the Captain was entertaining.
"Maybe if I get a little closer to shore, a bite will come my way..."
Beautiful shots....and what a beastie!
ReplyDeleteThanks William! He was a big one!
DeleteReally great pics! I wonder how that ship gets down a river? Maybe you went on a smaller boat for that part?
ReplyDeleteThat unusual flower, by the way, I don't know what it's called but one of my neighbors grows it. I keep meaning to ask.
We took a smaller river boat down the river...reminiscent of the African Queen, only about twice that size.
DeleteGreat shots Kathryn! You sure do get around! (and I'm glad you do!)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll try to avoid all cyclones, and alligators.
I agree! Although the big guy was a crocodile not an alligator! Being in Australia was interesting...a very friendly country people wise, and just about every plant, bug, reptile, and animal that can kill you!
DeleteHow beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian!!!
Deletebeautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you FollyGirl!
DeleteGot to love those crocs!
